We are pleased to announce that Josie and Kearley Abbott will lead our beach program for the 2018 summer. The Abbott sisters have been playing beach at a national level since they were at the 16U level. Listed below are some highlights of their accomplishments over the past number of years:
-They won the 16U National Championship
-They represented Manitoba as flag bearers at the 2015 Western Canada Games and finished with a bronze medal
-In 2016 they finished with a silver medal at the 18U National Championships
-At the Vancouver Pro Open in 2017, they finished a very respectable 5th place against all of the top teams in Canada
-They represented Manitoba at the 2017 Canada Games where they finished in 5th place.
Both Josie and Kearley will do an excellent job for our beach program as strong young leaders with loads of experience of training and competition at a high level behind them. They are also tremendous indoor players in addition to being excellent students who are both Academic All Canadians, carrying over a 4.0 GPA while they compete for our Varsity Program at the University of Manitoba.
Training is offered for players from introductory to elite, for ages 13U to 18U. The program will provide comprehensive training in all aspects of the Beach Volleyball game. Athletes can participate in training from developmental (new players/beginners) or Elite (competitive). Players will also have the opportunity to train with Canada Games athletes and Beach National Champions.
